A summer sailing adventure exploring the South Coast, discovering new places, making new friends and experiencing life at sea.
Join us aboard Helen Mary R for an action-packed weekend of youth sail training along the stunning Cornish south coast. It is an incredible opportunity for young people to experience the thrill of sailing, build teamwork skills, and explore the outdoors in a safe, supportive environment.
Over two coastal passages, participants will learn the basics of sailing while enjoying the beauty of our Cornish coastline. There will be plenty of chances for swimming, wildlife spotting, and coastal exploration.
The adventure kicks off on Friday late afternoon in Fowey, where the group will come together as a crew, getting to know one another and learning the importance of teamwork. They’ll share responsibilities, including preparing dinner and creating a sense of community and cooperation from the start. After a hearty breakfast on Saturday, the crew will set sail, working together to navigate the boat and experience the excitement of being at sea. Depending on the conditions, there will be opportunities to stop for a swim, explore hidden coves, or enjoy the Cornish coast.
The voyage is designed to engage and inspire young people, providing hands-on learning in an environment that encourages personal growth, resilience, and a love for the outdoors. Sailing offers a unique chance to develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities, all while having fun and making new friends.
Evenings are spent anchored, allowing the group to relax, share their experiences, and reflect on the day’s achievements. Under the guidance of our experienced and friendly crew, participants will feel a real sense of accomplishment as they take on new challenges and responsibilities.
When we return on Sunday evening, your young sailors will have had an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, learning, and personal growth. They’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the sea, new friendships, and memories of a rewarding and empowering journey. This voyage is not just about sailing—it’s about building character, confidence, and a lifelong love for the adventure of the open water.
