Your summer adventure starts here! Step aboard Helen Mary R for an unforgettable summer adventure along one of the most spectacular stretches of the South Coast.
Over several days, we’ll explore the coast between Falmouth and Dartmouth, with the voyage shaped by the wind, weather and our crew. We might sail into hidden coves, anchor for the night, explore harbours and coastal towns, or head offshore for a proper day’s sailing. No two voyages are ever quite the same.
From the moment you step aboard, you become part of the crew. You’ll take the helm, hoist sails, help navigate, cook together and help decide where the adventure takes us next. There’ll be new places to discover, evenings at anchor, plenty of time on deck and the chance to experience life aboard a real 57-foot sailing vessel.
You don’t need any sailing experience. Our volunteer Afterguard will teach you everything you need to know as you go.
Along the way, you’ll meet new people, make friends and discover what you’re capable of. There’ll be challenges, laughter, new experiences and those brilliant moments that happen when a group of young people who started as strangers become a crew.

As a recognised training centre of the Royal Yachting Association, we offer young people the opportunity to work towards nationally recognised qualifications during selected voyages.

These qualifications are not delivered in a classroom setting; they are earned through real experience at sea. Every task, from helming and sail handling to navigation and teamwork, contributes towards progression. For many young people, this provides both a clear sense of achievement and a recognised pathway within Sail Training. It strengthens confidence, builds practical skills, and offers a tangible outcome from their time on board.
